Banks and Lending institutions are increasing their requests for a Professional, non-biased, independent inspection on equipment they are considering as collateral for a loan. The inspection provides not only peace of mind to the buyer, but also the lender who has some assurance that the borrower is not purchasing a lemon that they may grow tired of dumping money into and abandon the loan and or the RV entirely.
As the marine industry has experienced for years, when a loan on a boat over a certain price point is requested, the lender requires a survey be provided. This is just another name for an inspection and is very similar in scope. It provides the lender with some assurance that they are not loaning money on a potential problem. These required inspections are beginning to happen more often in the RV lending industry just as it has in the marine and housing industries.
Increasingly, lending institutions are continuing to develop the same attitude and requirement as the availability of quality, certified RV inspections become more and more available.
Over the coming years, it is anticipated that many lenders will require, at a minimum, a basic level inspection of some degree to be passed before they will issues loans on the equipment.
The NRVIA (National Recreational Vehicle Inspectors Association), in which we are a member, is setting the standards for all RV inspectors who desire to become certified in the industry. Professional RV Inspections is certified with the NRVIA as a level 2 inspector and is also certified by the RVDA/RVIA as a Registered RV Technician..
